I got to thinking this morning, I just recently had my 36th birthday, & was think of every ones age in my family. My brothers are 8 & 10 years older than me, my kids, my wife, my mom & dad. It dawned on me that I am the same age as my dad was when I was when I was born, he was 36. I don’t know if this means anything or not. Just interesting I guess. I still feel young, well not at this moment at 6:20AM on a Monday morning, but overall I still feel young. I guess I am! They say that you are as old as you feel. I feel like I am……….27, tired, but 27.

I was talking to someone the other day about skiing, I mentioned that I am going to have to wear some type of knee brace because a few years back I tweaked my knee skiing and every once in awhile I can feel a strain. So ask me at the end of the winter how old I fell then. This Christmas we have plans to go skiing or at least do some serious schnee playin’ while my oldest brother & his family along with our mom come to visit.

I’m bringing home a baby Bumble Bee…(Update)

I recently shared w/ you my disappointment about only receiving 5 crackers in my Bumble Bee Ready to Eat Chicken Salad. But how Bumble Bee stepped up and righted the situation w/ some coupons. So now I must update you on the next round in this apparently ongoing saga….

Last week I was digging into my Bumble Bee Ready to Tuna Salad. (I assume that they get the Chicken Salad crackers from the same bin that they get the Tuna Salad crackers.) I wasn’t really paying attention to what I was doing, talking to a co-worker. I opened the cracker package and was elated to see that the prodigal cracker had returned. I stopped and showed everyone the missing cracker. I didn’t have my camera and was disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to share w/ ya’ll (Okie talk) my surprise & joy. I had to resort to my cell camera, not the best pic, but you can see it….

Hearing vs Listening

On the way to work this morning, I heard a song on the radio, it’s not a very up lifting song, and in fact it’s down right depressing. And in worldly fashion, it’s one of those songs that they play over & over & over until you find yourself singing to it. Being a new song that I’ve heard only about 3 times, I was listening closely to hear the words, again, it’s a very depressing song, but 1 line I caught was “…You made me compliment myself when it was way too hard to take…” That got me thinking of my lovely wife. Now your thinking “....Where is he going with this....?” Hang w/ me because it was an illumination to me and my life.

Last night I was talking to our Pastors wife, who is in charge of worship in our church. I was talking w/ her about joining the orchestra and get back into playing (Yes, Amos). We were talking for about 10 minutes & I was explaining to her how long it’s been since I’ve played (Alto Sax by the way) and that I can read music, but I should be able to play by chord charts the way the church does. I wasn’t down playing my abilities; I thought I was just being honest, in my way of thinking. Just about then my wife comes storming in the room and says “Stop that!! You need to sell yourself!!” It kind of threw me off a little. Now she has always said this to me, not in away that is deceptive by any means, but in a way that is positive and encouraging. You see, my way of thinking is that I need to be honest w/ people about everything. Sometimes I have the tendency to downplay my abilities. I don’t like to brag on my self & I feel uncomfortable doing that. However I know the word says that “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” (Phil 4:13)

Now back to song, in this “thought-rabbit trail”, I heard my fathers voice say “I am proud of you and I don’t like it when you down play the gifts that I have blessed you with.” It was as clear as day that it was His voice. I was just thinking along and clearly and lovingly He said this. Now in true fatherly fashion I was quickly convicted and at that moment, I decided to change my way of thinking. I was reminded again that I am the righteousness of Christ and that the Lord has created me for such a time as this to shine for His glory. We all have been given talents and gifts to use. We are to use them for gain, gain for ourselves of gain for the Kingdom of God. Just a worldly father enjoys and receives pleasure from his children doing good and taking advantage of his blessings and place in the family; God enjoys and receives glory by use using what He gave to us.

SCHNEE!!!!!!

I was sitting here at my desk at work, minding my own business, answering phone calls from helpless 'users' and glanced out the window. First I thought, 'that's alot of bugs'. Then I got up and looked closer.......SCHNEE!!! Yea!!! But wait....I ran back to my computer, sure enough, it's not cold enough for schnee, but, it's...schnee, how can it be?!?!?! (JJ would say 'that rhymes'). I can hardly wait, real schnee, mountain schnee....YEA!!!! I want to going schnee skiing right now!!! Oh what fun it will be.

GOOD WIFE'S GUIDE

The Good Wife's Guide Housekeeping Monthly

-Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious
meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that
you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men
are hungry when they come home and the prospect of a good meal (especially
his favourite dish) is part of the warm welcome needed.

-Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he
arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be
fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.

-Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may
need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.

-Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the
house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.

-Over the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for
him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and
order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering for his comfort
will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.

-Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the
washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.

-Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.

-Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the
moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first - remember, his
topics of conversation are more important than yours.

-Make the evening his. Never complain if he comes home late or goes out to
dinner or other places of entertainment without you. Instead, try to
understand his world of strain and pressure and his very real need to be at
home and relax.

-Your goal: To try and make sure your home is a place of peace, order, and
tranquillity where your husband can renew himself in body and spirit.
Don't greet him with complaints and problems.

-Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or have him
lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.
Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing
and pleasant voice.

-Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or
integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always
exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to
question him.

A good wife always knows her place.

Help Desk

I have been accused of being an blogger tease, I guess that means that I don't post enough. I don't want to disappoint any loyal fans by not posting enough, how dare I!!? Some people post about daily events in their life. Others post about special things that happen to them or significant strides they have made regarding a certain topic. Well, either I'm not that interesting or not that much stuff happens to me in one day. My day consists of loving on my family and working. Loving on my family is great and I guess I could share of all the cute little things that my kids say, but that's not me. My work, is just that.....WORK. So I have to post things that are funny and make me laugh at life.

A night at the movies

The other day at work we got into a discusion about favorite movies. Everyone had their favs. I was rackin' my brains to remember mine. I know, I know...remember??! "Everyone knows their favorite movie". I just couldn't remember mine. The reason being is that mine is a foreign film, every time I watch it, I just have to smile.
